Project information

The Ridge House holiday home is located on the west coast of Antiparos island in Cyclades.

The plot on which it is situated includes a slope with sharp altitude differences and a view that opens up to the sea. This is leveraged as a fundamental element of the composition, so that the residence is integrated into the landscape with parts of it being developed underground.

The native stone dominates all the configurations, covering most of the elements and enhancing the locality of the construction. The configuration of a wooden, white roof signals the existence of the house, as it is the main element that defines the outdoor and semi-outdoor spaces. With this integration, the building blends harmoniously into the Cycladic landscape and at the same time acquires a bioclimatic identity.

The overall aesthetic of the space is characterized by simple lines, earthy decoration, a warm and homely atmosphere; data that the architectural lighting strengthens, highlighting the unique morphological architectural features.

The challenge:
country house | interpretation of traditional architecture

RL approach:
plasticity | landscape integration | coalescence of indoor – semi-outdoor – outdoor spaces
