A Home of Light – Thessaloniki Seafront Residence

In an apartment overlooking the White Tower, on the historic seafront of Thessaloniki, this recent renovation did more than redefine its aesthetics; it redefined the resident’s relationship with light and presence.

The lighting design by Reflect Lights was based on an advanced Occhio system featuring air technology, allowing brightness, colour temperature and luminaire positioning to be dynamically adjusted through mechanical movement, shaping the light according to each moment, mood and spatial function.

All functions were integrated into customised lighting scenes, controlled via the Occhio Plus+ system, enabling remote activation and management of the lighting – even intercontinentally – from the location where the owner resides for a significant part of the year.

This experience, as the owner himself described, reminded him of the moment when “Marconi lifted the telephone and spoke across the Atlantic for the first time.” And perhaps this is not merely a metaphor, but a contemporary version of that first, powerful sensation of connection across distance.

Here, light is not simply a decorative element.

It becomes an instrument of presence, a bridge between places and time, and a silent companion that carries the feeling of “home” wherever one may be.
