Thessaloniki Museum of Photography (TMP) was founded in 1998 and, since 2001, has been housed in the listed Warehouse A of the 1st pier at the Port of Thessaloniki.

The lighting design was implemented in 2001 and was based on the use of electrified wire rope systems stretched across the length and width of the building. This approach provided a sense of transparency and lightness to the lighting equipment.

The integrated rotation systems in each IRC halogen lamp allowed for individual adjustment and focusing at different positions and angles, depending on the needs of each photo exhibit. At the same time, this setup created a distinctive scenographic effect on the ceiling, resembling a starry sky within the metal structure of the roof.

With this wire rope concept, we responded to the challenge of lighting the museum photo exhibits with an innovative solution that moved beyond the conventional use of electrified 3phase tracks, which would have been the expected approach for exhibit illumination.

Το Μουσείο Φωτογραφίας Θεσσαλονίκης ( ΜΦΘ ) ιδρύθηκε το 1998 και από το 2001 στεγάζεται στη διατηρητέα αποθήκη Α του 1^ου προβλήτα στο Λιμάνι της Θεσσαλονίκης.

Η μελέτη φωτισμού έγινε το 2001 και βασίστηκε στη χρήση συρματόσχοινων ρευματοφόρων αγωγών που τανύστηκαν στο μήκος και το πλάτος του κτιρίου προσφέροντας μια αίσθηση διαφάνειας και ελαφρότητας στον εξοπλισμό του φωτισμού.

Τα ενσωματωμένα συστήματα ρύθμισης σε κάθε λαμπτήρα αλογόνου IRC επέτρεπαν την ρύθμιση και την εστίαση σε διαφορετικές θέσεις και γωνίες ανάλογα με τις ανάγκες κάθε εκθέματος προσφέροντας παράλληλα μια ξεχωριστή σκηνογραφία στην οροφή ενός έναστρου τοπίου μέσα στην μεταλλική κατασκευή της οροφής.

Με το concept αυτό των συρματόσχοινων ανταποκριθήκαμε στην πρόκληση του φωτισμού του μουσείου φωτογραφίας με μια πρωτοποριακή εφαρμογή που ξεφευγε από την πεπατημένη της χρήσης των ρευματοφόρων ραγών που θα ήταν και η αναμενόμενη προσέγγιση για τον φωτισμό των εκθεμάτων.
